Joinery, stone and brass

Your client paid for the joinery, the stone and the brass. I make sure the photographs show it. Straight verticals, balanced windows and the details shot as carefully as the room.

Designers, makers and show homes

I photograph finished rooms for interior designers, kitchen and joinery makers, and developers dressing show homes. Each brief is different.

A designer wants the whole scheme. A joiner wants the grain of the oak and the line where a drawer meets the frame. There’s more on those shoots on my kitchen and joinery page.

Detail and material

Material work is slow work. Brushed brass, veined stone and painted timber all change with the angle of the light, so I take the time to find the angle where each one reads properly.

The detail frames get the same care as the wide room. A handle, a tap or a run of tiles can say more about the quality of the job than the room shot.

Light that suits the materials

Soft daylight is kind to most materials. I plan interiors for the hours when it comes in through the main windows, and switch lamps on only where they add warmth to the room.

Verticals stay vertical, so tall joinery and door frames stand the way they were built. Windows are balanced with the room, so the view out is part of the scheme rather than a white hole in it.

Magazine-ready files

Files are delivered at full resolution and graded as one set, ready for magazine submission, your portfolio and your own channels.

Usage for makers and suppliers

When a room features several makers, each of them will want the photographs. Tell me who needs them when you book and I’ll agree the usage with you before the shoot.

Book me and you get me. No juniors, no subcontractors.

Textured plaster, herringbone oak and a sculpted island with oak stools under glass pendants. I shot it as the sun went down over the sea, low enough to rake across the plaster and pull out its texture.

The Cottage

A blush-pink kitchen, knurled brass handles, white render and a woodburner. I let the low evening sun do the work, and shot the brass close enough that it reads as warm metal rather than flat yellow.
