Golden Sands Penthouse, Portrush

The brief

Textured plaster, herringbone oak and a sculpted island with oak stools under glass pendants. I shot it as the sun went down over the sea, low enough to rake across the plaster and pull out its texture.

The light plan

The living room faces the sunset over the sea. I shot it in the last of the light, when the sun sits level with the balcony doors and reaches all the way back to the kitchen.

The details came from the same light: the shadow of the flowers on the wall, the sun across the stools and the log store. Plaster only shows its texture when the light rakes across it, so the details were timed for that.
